Absolutely brilliant. Can we get some explanation of what you've done and how you did it? Superb craftsmanship, one of the most well-put-together designs I've seen.

Wow... a docking station... NICE!
But I must express my grave concerns that putting brass gears directly atop the USB circuitry in that drive will cause short-circuits when the drive is plugged in... leading to disaster.

well there's no sideview so lets assume theres something clear between the gears and the drive or a large enough gap

Oh my, what a lovely piece of tech. I'm curious, the feet on the docking station, you know, with the numbers all around them... are they from a combination lock?

i personally dont like it -as steampunk- cause its showing too much PCB, and while its your own view of steampunk that matters, i dont think this could be called pure steampunk, its more a hybrid
...
that said it is a good piece of work

Even with the PCB, it's quite handsome. what materials did you use? I'm guessing a lamp finial on top, and obviously a large brass nut on the bottom, but what's in-between?
and the docking station is really gorgeous. I'm quite jealous of your ingenuity and fabrication skills.

That's lovely. I especially like the docking station, and the valve look you've given the flashdrive. Very nice work.

Gotta say, I love the design, but the visible chip there is really cheesing me off. I don't know if you're planning to work on this, or if it's done and you're just showing it here for funsies, but if you are gonna do anything else, I highly recommend covering that in something more solid than a few gears. And then put the gears on top of that instead.

I second that. The dissonance tears up the composition. Which is nicely done craftwise, by the way.

Yes, by no means are your skills lacking, in fact this is really incredibly beautiful. It's just that one element of it that I think was a poor decision.

My first reaction to the USB drive alone was not positive, it looked a bit Clumsy to me. (Don't ask me to explain, it was my first, gut reaction. But in combination with the Docking station I take it all back. The "Top heavy" look of the USB works perfectly in combination with the base. Congratulations.
However I do agree with the comments about the exposed PCB.

I'm not opposed to exposed PCB, but I think it needs something to stagger the transition from silicon to clockwork.
One of my main thoughts regarding Steampunk PC mods it the Victorians would have had the insides exposed for all to marvel at. Of course a modern Motherboard would need some work to have that marvel factor.
Any way fantastic work. I love the docking station. I was going to do something similar, but replace the USB plug with something more bulky. Most likely would have killed the impedance of the wiring and reduced it to USB1.1 speed.
