Ever tried to put together a nice Steampunk room or Victorian style study but couldn't figure out what to do with these necessary but very ugly things?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Wouldn't these look a lot better on your table?

I have recently discovered that these solid wood humidors have the perfect interior dimensions to house a spindle of blank CDs or DVDs,

and they look a whole lot nicer that those ubiquitous plastic spindles. No modifications necessary.

I have been sitting on two of them for years and had no idea what to do with them. I believe they were junk sale purchases, so I'd bet they (or something similar) shouldn't be to hard to find. I am in the process of turning my computer room into a Steampunk/Victorian study and these are going to be a great addition to my new room.

you should have the spindle going through the middle, with a base attatched to it, so you could lift the spindle and all the cd's out in one fell swoop to refill it?
just an idea

Just a good idea, though, I daresay.

I originally planned to put the whole spindle in there, but it didn't quite fit. The flange at the bottom of the spindle has too great a diameter. I was about to trim one down and try to fit it in, when I realized that I would have to pull the whole thing out every time I wanted a disk, because I couldn't get at the sides of the stack inside the humidor. It seemed more practical to just stack the disks up inside without the spindle, and then I could lift the disks out one at a time by sticking my finger in the center hole.
