How odd. I, in fact, had a friend that lived in Arkansas City and moved away to Joplin.

Here is something that might be of interest to all of you Kansas steampunks out there: http://www.newscow.net/story.php?StoryID=4202

In short, there will be $5.00 hot air balloon rides at 7:00PM in Arkansas City in order to raise funds for An Enchanted Summer's End, the local Renaissance festival. If I am able to spare the time, I shall be donning my finest vest and top hat to enjoy such a splendephorous opportunity. Hope to see some of you there, as well.

I was in attendance, sadly due to weather issues there were no hot air balloon rides.  I was able to climb into the basket and play with the burner though.

I am glad that somebody at least got to go. The weather, in addition to the fact that my significant other decided to part ways with me, prevented me from attending. However, their is still An Enchanted Summer's End to anticipate!

Unfortunately I won't be able to go to An Enchanted Summer's End, as I will be in Florida.

Are you serious? That irritates me to no end. Those are the exact same days as Izumicon in Oklahoma City, which I planned on attending. I even mentioned that at the panel they held at Anime Festival Wichita. Blast it all! Decisions to make!

i am opening my own restaurant in wilson, ks. it is in the historic midland hotel, an old railroad hotel from the 1870s, it should be pretty cool, the dining room has converted gas light fixtures for the lighting and the hotel is one of those places full of old railroad era woodwork.

i am hoping to sneak a few steampunk touches in under the owners, like the wait staff uniforms, im thinking harvey girls meets hooters in brown leather...

it should be a great little place to eat...

Dammit.

I'm one state down, A few miles east of OKC, and the area is absolutely devoid of anything but a small Dagorhir troupe and a few displaced anime clubs. Otherwise, I'm mainly alone in the rural town of Shawnee- Nay! I live in Earlsboro! It's even smaller. D:

Here in Wichita!  Very excited about the Emerald City event and the Oklahoma event later (April 2011 I think?).

Yes, the Oklahoma Steampunk Exposition is April 15th through April 17th of 2011. Sadly, I will not be attending the Emerald City Steampunk Exposition, as I have obligations to fulfill regarding Izumicon. Next year, perhaps.

Definitely looking to meet some new folk at the Emerald City shindig, will hopefully be performing there! In the least, I'm going to try to help out with the event as much as possible.

It has been announced that The Ghosts Project with special guest Nathaniel Johnstone from Abney Park will be at the Emerald City expo for the Saturday night concert.  I am not familiar with The Ghosts Project, has anyone heard any of their music?  Should we be excited?
