Does a wooden spoon count? Like the big ones to mix stuff with?

Yes, it counts!

i have a quick question -

if i wish to sew something does the thread i use count as a tool or does it have to be part of the list, i.e. one of the items of my choice?

My understanding is if you are using it in construction it would be the same as glue, rivets or nails and falls under tools used.

If however you were using it for some sort of decoration, say a bundle of tangled twine or such it would count as an item used.

yup, purely constructional, no decorative thread going on here!

rivets are tools as well? excellent! i thought i was going to have to use them as one of my things from a hardware store.

Hello everyone !
I made my way down into the dark recess' of the NDN Arms company and informed the boys of the challenge. The "Gentlemen" part stirred up a clamor but I explained that it was OK and they could take part as well.
I will throw the hat in the fray as the boys are currently not allowed internet privileges, some minor infraction, I'm sure.  So be expecting something brought up from the basement. I had to leave the area as the shouting had gotten rather loud and mean spirited; I will check back in a few days and see whats cookin'.

Don't take my word for Law.   Tongue

Each challenge has had slightly different rules. Seeing how bolts are listed this time as items I could be quite wrong.

would it be possible to get some clarity on this one? i've never taken part in a gentleman's challenge and would hate to break the rules on my very first attempt.

I found a piece of headgear worthy of creative modification....a pith helmet. If I can envision a true explorer's all-purpose helmet I will proceed. I will NOT randomly pile crap upon it.

another quick question. if you buy three identical things from the hardware shop does that count as your one thing or one of the three? specifically, i have a copper elbow, a copper t-joint and a copper reducer. can i get anything else from the hardware shop or is that my limit?

I am back from my weekend away!

Stardust, your thread will count as a construction item, so go crazy with it. However your items from the hardware store do indeed sound like 3 different items. There are some loop holes you can get around however. You could always get a friend to take something home that you bought from the hardware store and then go over to their place and take it. It would fall under the "something borrowed from a friend" category *wink*

I guess it's okay to reveal that in the last challenge I interpreted the "bought from the hardware store" as "ever bought", and the rawhide dog chew only came from the bathroom because I put it there.

i actually thought a bathroom was a perfectly valid place to keep a dog chew! i've already borrowed stuff from a friend for this, i will have to try and trim down the 3 items of my choice to incorperate anything extra.

Dang...Dang...Dang....

I'm not sure if I can play this round or not.... Hey... I'm trying to get everything together for Burning Man....But I keep looking a the list, and have this great idea......

Yeah right... I'll just add one more project before I head out onto The Playa.......

If I do play, I will have to post what I made on the 30th. or post late, once I get back from Burning Man.....If I post late, at least I will know if the idea worked or not.... field testing as it were.....

Having lurked for many months before registering, and for several days after registering, this seems like a good place to de-lurk.

(Hello!)

I think the idea of using a spoon in the construction of headgear influenced the decision somewhat.

I have to drop out as well. I've had no good ideas so far, and all my shop time is going into the Orion Sphere. Anyone need a good pith helmet?
