(dings bell) maid! Where's the maid? Twenty of eight, and I haven't had any tea and scones yet, I'm famished! How's a gel to get through a busy day without her tea and scones, hmmm?

*Hands around a plate of tea and scones* Sorry I'm late. Perkins was meant to be on today, but he claims to have come down with something. Idiot waited to ask me to cover his shift until I was happily ensconsed in my workshop. 'Scuse the woodsmoke smell. Didn't have time to change my shirt.

Is there room for one more not so distinguished lady?
I have scones! I made them today with buttermilk that it took a bloody age to track down because this country has no concept of it... back in the old country, you can buy it in a litre carton along with the reuglar milk!
Well, that was a rather undistinguished milk rant...
Have some Irish scones!

Help your self dear.
As for buttermilk: Two cartons of double cream. Place in mixer on low setting untill it thumps and turns into a solid lump of butter. The remaining liquid is your buttermilk.

Oh thank you; that's good to know! I have actually found it somewhere fairly local mercifully, so as long as they keep stocking it I'm sorted! Now all I need to do is find decent soda bread here; or start making my own Clotted cream, anyone?

Proper clotted cream ? yes please, I've not had that for years. I find it doesn't travel well.

Anyone for a dollop of strawberry jam? Home made with organically grown strawberries.... Tastes divine, but slightly on the runny side.... (I can never get the damn stuff to set properly!)

I'm not sure about cream tea; but we are definitely approaching the lethal dose of banoffee pie here. Double cream was an error, it would seem...

In my case its lethal as soon as I open the cream up.
You might try adding some extra pectin next time Auntie L and make sure its not rained for at least 3 days before you pick the berries.

For the strawberries? Now, that is serious dedication to the perfect cream tea..... Even Japanese tea ceremonies don't go to quite those lengths....
