There has to be, at least, some honorable mention of Professor Elemental. Didn't see his name on a forum search, so I thought I'd add...

His music isn't very 'Steampunk' -- officially, it's called "chap-hop"; he started out as "Elemental" a straight-up hip-hop act, but even he admitted in an interview that there just isn't the demand in Britain for a middle-aged, white hip-hop artist.  It was when he collaborated with producer Tom Caruana on a compilation album-- which never saw the light of day--  and was supposed to present variations on how  hip-hop might have sounded in different historical eras, that he took on the moniker of 'Professor Elemental' in the Victorian era & found a more comical niche for his style.. and it really took off.

His album 'Father of Invention' seems to be a concept album about being at a steampunk convention.

All In Together

A lot of his music can be heard on Youtube, and of course purchased at Amazon, etc, and at his own website...

The forum search often shows itself to be sadly lacking (It's even thrown up zero results for something I knew for a fact was on here when I was looking for it).

The good Professor has had several mentions on BG before (at least one of which is on this very thread).

Still a good call though.

We'll need to run the list past the fellow in the video.  Seems he is the one that decides if an artiste is Steampunk or not.

Well, they aren't strictly a 'steampunk act'-- but I've just recently heard of a band called "Clocks & Clouds"-- They have several albums out, but one of them is called 'Steampunk Quartet Essentials'.

http://www.clocksandcloudsmusic.com/

...Not to be confused with a band called "Of Clocks and Clouds" which is a completely separate band & I think is electro-goth???

https://ofclocksandclouds.bandcamp.com/

Anyway... from the FIRST link, "Clocks & Clouds" is a trio of violin, cello, & drums, who have the the intent of fitting these classical string instruments into a more modern musical style. Their slogan is, "Where classical music and rock meet".   Fairly anachronistic, so I think they fit right into the concept.

Here are some of my attempts at an original steampunk sound. I'm still at an unfinished, proto-embrionic stage - but what do you think?

What no Steampunk Blues? looks like I'll have to break out my cigar box guitars and my guitar made from tractor parts! I would've thought Blues would be represented as it's one of the oldest forms of music that has actually endured and is the basis for nearly all modern music.

I'm not sure if this act would be considered Steampunk.  Though I'll put them up for discussion. The use of washboard as an instrument  here  is a compelling addition
