New Jersey - And Questions

So I am relatively new to steampunk, aside from just staring at it and wishing I was a part of it. But now that I have been Larping for about 8 months, I feel ready to start to undertake Steampunk. I would like to know a couple of things, if I could.

Are there any regular sites near or in New Jersey?

About how much should I know before I go?

What would a good starting costume look like?

Are their any different things I should be aware of (I.E. different types, lingo, not make fool of myself.)

Lastly, if there is not anything in Jersey, how hard would it be to start one, regularly? I am a rather good rule maker, been playing all kinds of role playing games all my life - and already make and run mods for my current LARP group.

Mystic Realms, a NJ theater club, is commencing a STEAMPUNK series of larp events to be set in an airship that travels the Neo-Victorian world.  The event site is 45 minutes south east of Philadelphia.

Mystic Realms is looking for experienced Steampunk fans, as well as experienced larpers and writers who desire to be players or parts of the cast.   Anyone who wants to help behind the scenes in building props and turning our ten stall horse barn into an airship for the weekend would be welcome.

Our club is run entirely by volunteer and all we ask is that people who join our club have a love of theater, a desire to entertain others and a sincere commitment to having fun.

Mystic Realms has been hosting events in various genres (fantasy, sci-fi, horrors, super hero, weird west, covert operations, modern earth) for the past 15 years.  This will mark our first foray into Steampunk play, and we would dearly appreciate any help from this community.

Mystic Realms clubs strive to create theatric events that focus more on characters and less on boffer combat.  Mystic Realms players and cast attempt to create an interactive theatric experience for everyone who attends.  Players are expected to stay in character and contribute to the roleplaying environment of the airship.  The cast will bring the world to life by providing the backdrop of story plot.

We see LARPing as a cooperative, team-focused effort, and know the best events occur when talented people work together.
