Steampunk @ SoCal Ren Faire?!

Yes it is true.
After a full steampunk themed weekend was out voted, a few of us are managing to squeeze in under this weekends fantasy theme!
I will be displaying and selling some of my wares as a guest artist and invite any to come on by this weekend, 9th and 10th.
My only concern is what to wear?
Out of respect for the Ren faire/Elizabethan period and commitment I would sway towards a more peasant outfit with some steampunk flair. . .however it IS the fantasy themed weekend, so full steampunk attire should be OK, yes?
we will see how the mood strikes. . .

As someone who's worked the pleasure faire (big faire, so cal faire, what have you) for 5 years and someone who's worked ren faire for about 15 years total I'm just stating that this is a silly idea and would never want to mix the two because I feel it cheapens both.

I'm sorry that you feel that way. There are several of us out here who are toying with the idea of "Renpunk". Okay so it's not a "lifestyle", it's just another avenue to explore in costuming, but if you can have modern technology in the Victorian era why can't you have it during the Renaissance?

well clockpunk (da vinci till industrial revolution) is an entirely different genre.
however both these posts are just an opinion and I'm entitled to them, carry on.
