Oh my cogs...... http://pingmag.jp/2008/09/26/haruo-suekichi-the-steampunk-watchmaker/

Seriously, this is the kind of thing that makes me so proud to be steampunk, look at those GORGEOUS watches! I would chew off an arm for one of those!

Yup. Gets posted around here about every month of so. Beautiful, within a certain aesthetic. They don't really do much for me personally... and at the prices he charges, you'd almost *have* to chew your arm off. Wink

Given the prices, I think it would be much more reasonable to chew someone else's arm off to get one of these watches.

Seconded.. (and I personally don't care for his style, but that's just me)
I'd rather have something like this, an early pocket watch conversion:

I think they are great, I would like to design a whole bracer in a similar style, with all sorts of useful parts to it.

That is a lovely Elgin Harold, I nearly bought one the other day, but was outbid.

Hi,

I have several Haruo Suekichi watches available.
Shipment directly from Japan. Prices as low as they can be.

I lived 10 years in Tokyo, and his works of art are some
of the most interesting things I have seen !  Smiley

I think this is the most important picture of all. You neither need state-of-the-art tools or workspace to produce high degrees of craft, just passion -

I agree with the above that I do not find his designs to be attractive at all. They're far too busy and just plain ugly to me

I think it's also a stretch to call him a watchmaker. If anything, he's more of a jeweler than a watchmaker(if you could even go that far) who just happens to throw in a watch movement.

I don't have a Facebook account so I could not open your link, but I would not mind having one of Mr Harou's great watches.  Sent you a PM. markf
