*Pours Sir A a glass of cider, and slides a plate with a pickled egg on it across*
It's a good thing I found the key to the liquor cabinet. There seems to certainly be something to be said for cleaning...

Yes, I'm sure I want to reply!  That's why I came in here.

Sad, really.  Things were jumping in here, once upon a time.

I guess I shouldn't complain, though.  We had some good times, despite the snow, the dodos, and the two surly gents at the chessboard.

Ah, well.

Cheers!

Well, that's all... oh.  'E's leff already.  Shakespeare, it wasn't, but that's all right.

Helios, you have done wonders for the place.  Perhaps we can bring back the other members.

The lights are still on, those guys are still competing at the chessboard, and the Caterpillar has just re-lit his, er... contraption.

I'll have a Belhaven's, please.

Cheers!

"Well my dear, so much more elegant than a plain old bump"

Hello Captain, how's that old crate of an airship of yours, still having trouble keeping it up (sorry -still suffering from Carry On 'withdrawal' symptoms - oops there it goes again - can't say anything without a double entendre)  Wink

Helios, I like what you're doing with the old place although I suspect you will have a job getting rid of the dodo stains - still, gives the place character (and an unusual odour)

Have this one on me Captain, I'll have a large Dalwhinnie, that unusual 77 year old please, and have one yourself Helios old chap.

Right, that's a Belhaven's for Captain Lyerly, a large Dalwhinnie 77 for Angus, a cigarette tray for darkshines, and s pint of sherry and a mop for Prof Blakehurst. Make sure you clean that up, Professor. I run a tight ship here.
*Slides the various drinks to their respective owners, and hefts the broom at Prof Blakehurst*

So, how are we all?

Much better thanks to the Dalwhinnie 77... it has been a little in here in here lately I feel that the ship will indeed be tight in quite short order....

Barkeep....whatever Helios requires...twice...

Now has anyone seen the remote control for the automonkeybutler?

As I recall, Helios sat on it a while back... Use the manual controls on the front, if it still works.

For me, I'll have a 15 year old Laphroiag once I've done relighting the fire.. it's a bit cold in here, isn't it?

Nice change.  Just back from the Crimea and points East - devilish cold up in the Hindu Kush any time of year; I get home and it was still quite warm in the middle of October.  Supposed to be a very cold winter again this year, though.  Hope the staff can keep a fire in the grate for us.

I think I will step over to the corner, find a nice mushroom-shaped hassock, and share a puff or two with the Caterpillar - if he is smoking something recognizable, anyhow.

Cheers!

Floor's clean, but you should see what's in the celler.

*Shudder!*

May I partake of a pint of scrumpy with a dash of green ginger wine in it ?

Certainly; have you remembered to bolt the trapdoor? Or are we going to have to find the Shotgun cartridges too?

Barkeep, another whiskey whilst we wait to find out...

I'm afraid late October is always going to be like this.  But so long as the surroundings are comfortable, and the company is so agreeable - can't find a crowd like this just anywhere, you know - the usual vampire attacks, monster invasions, and the occasional Zombie Apocalypse may be handled with aplomb.

Say, anybody remember the recipe for a Zombie Apocalypse?  I know it started out with some eevil blackstrap rum... gets hazy about there, can't remember much else... a lime wedge?  mint?  perhaps some kahlua... I think there was a shot of Grand Marnier (not Grand Mariner - I met him once, but that's another story) someone said Falernum, but I don't think that was it.  I will have to experiment.  Darn the luck!  Hah.

Actually, I knew there was a Zombie - the cocktail.  But I think it appropriate that we update it to our own recipe, and call it the Zombie Apocalypse.  With a name like that, it has to be powerful and Good.

The original (disputed) recipe calls for fruit juices and flavorings and Rum.  Lime Juice (Rose's, of course), a mix of Rums - light, dark, and 'golden' - something called "Don's Mix" from the originator, which is just grapefruit juice and cinnamon syrup, Pernod, Grenadine (Rose's again) and Falernum.

I think a Zombie Apocalypse should have nothing but dark-as-the-grave Rum, Navy grade or worse; fruit juices, but not so much as to overwhelm the Rum; and a few hints of other flavors, just enough to add interest.

Let me work on this, I will get back to you.

I think I may have just invented a drink! Gin and Vimto over ice with a dash of lemon juice. For those unfamiliar with this memory of my childhood -
Vimto

I suppose technically - another drink - but this is much more sociable than the Fitziron Pimms!

Well, that was odd.  Spent two days wandering around, trying to get back in to the Clocktower.

Here we are, though.

I need a nap, now.

*Ties the Captain's shoelaces together as he snoozes.  Roll Eyes Runs away giggling in a scrumpy fuelled haze!*

In the Antipodes, a Zombie cocktail was equal parts of lemon juice and five different rums: light, dark, Malibu (*shudder*), black strap and OP. Pretty ugly...

Rum and falernum is a bit of overkill - falernum has a rum base! How about a rum, pernod, allpice liqueur and dash of tobasco ?
