I can't wait to see this movie, it's looks rather amazing. It also looks to have quite a few steampunk elements within it as well. Check out the trailer:

That certainly looks like a wonderfully steamy dystopian adventure and with names like Tim Burton and Shane Acker attached to it I'd wager it can't help but being a fantastic flick.

Thanks, now I can't wait to see it either  Grin

Wow, that looks incredible!  Tim Burton+Batman=not so great.  Tim Burton+Steampunk?  Potentially perfect!

I thought the same thing!  As the trailer progressed this seemed less and less the case, but I am still left wanting to build a Steamy Wall-E...

The notion of the future of the world being in the hands of one of mankind's creations seems to persist throughout.

Not sure if anyone has played the video game Little Big Planet, but it reminds me of a darker version of that.

Little big planet was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I like the dystopian feel though, and there appears to be gadgetry.

I am very excited for this movie - I hope Sergej Lukianenko is really in the production of the movie and is not just giving his name for the lines.

Steamy or not, with my favorite band in the trailer, I have to see it!!

But I digress, it seems to me this film has been seasoned with a dash of steampunk.

I pay rather close attention to 3D animation, since I have a degree in it, so I find a lot of obscure stuff.

Actually it's not that obscure. There was a thread on this ages ago - the trailer's been about for a while now.

What an incredible visual journey...I love stories that take place in complete chaos...reminds me of George Grosz for some reason. (the chaos in the backgrounds anyway)

It may not be air-ships-and-corsets SteamPunk (TM), this thing has maker-culture dripping from it.  It seems like its trying to appeal to the goth kids, us, and everyone who liked Coraline.  This is, by the way, a Good Thing, and I've been looking forward to this one for years.

Now if they could just get a theatrical Rust Boy...

Thanks for the heads up on this - it looks very good.

Incidentally (and I'm sure there has been a thread on this too - I am very backward on catching up with films) I watched The Animatrix last night and found parts of it surprisingly steamy

Quite welcome.  "A Christmas Carol", as time is telling, can never be retold too many times.  I looked at the castlist and apparently Jim Carrey is playing not only Scrooge but the three Ghosts, as well.

I'm something of a fan of film trailers (old and current) in general. I think they are an underrated little art form.
The trailers for 9 being among the best ever made.
