At the foot of the page:

"Votes will only be accepted from bona-fide event organisers.

Voting rules: -
1. Only bona-fide UK-based event organisers are permitted to vote. "

Is there something similar where attendees are able to cast their vote?

That would explain why the same event organizers always win.  That has all the makings of an old boy's network.

Come, come, Ladies and gentlemen! You are giving into their way of the world too easily.
Have you never organised an "event"? I 'm sure you have. What about that amazing party where you fed 50 friends, how is that not an event? Surely as worthy as a conference for 50 bored salespersons?
No one currently paying you to do their bidding? I cannot believe that means you do nothing all week. When i was so called unemployed and if in the company of those who were in paid employment, i wold describe myself by whatever unpaid work I was doing:  Association secretary, independent scholar, freelance writer, private engineer, musical manager. Use your imagination and then wrap it in the language these guys are used to.

I did organize an National event for 850 people as a conrunner, so any other conrunners would also qualify.

Aside from myself, there are only a couple of people with any experience from the SF community in running Cons

I happen to run some pretty large SF events (don't like the term conventions) at the National Space Centre as well as being on the team who ran Celebration Europe at the Excel!

This also means I have the job title to vote!  Wink

Well... put it like that. Does "I prod people into being there" count as a job title?

I am very aware of the pressure all of the VSS related posts make on Brass Goggles.  We do have a new forum attached to the VSS website for discussion of VSS events etc.  This can be found at http://thevss.forumotion.com

Please note this is in no way intended to be a replacement for these esteemed halls and we will continue to frequent these pages too.

Quite correct sir, not everyone is on Brass Googles, but most join the forum after a VSS shindig, and contribute all over the forum.

I note that Help for Heroes has a place to record fundraising events, but I cannot see the Lincoln convivium raffle included. Might someone be able to rectify that? I see other not dissimilar events recorded and although we didnt raise gazillions i am sure we will do more next time.

I also note that H4H is soliciting funds for hero grab bags at £25 each, which might be suitable virtual xmas presents for some UK brassgogglers. http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/troop_aid.html
