Crap. My birthday's coming up. I hope I don't find chicken in my Philadelphia cream cheese torte.

I may have to perform a sacrifice.

We went out for a friend's birthday to a Moroccan restaurant this evening. One of the dishes we were presented with was shredded chicken, raisins, nuts and who knows what else cooked in a phyllo dough shell like a small cake.  It was covered in powdered sugar.  I normally don't think of chicken and powdered sugar as good combination, but I have to admit it was quite tasty.

But doused in coffee??

well, it's customary for me to accompany most meals with a hot steaming mug, at least in the winter climate, having the coffee built in could provide a vital saving in the number of hands / utensils required?

as a sidenote, in genteel surroundings tea would be preferred of course but if you're looking at functional sustenance.. Cheesy

It sounds as though the poor girl got the inspiration for the cake from that made from pasta and other assorted oddments in Carry on Cruising.   Cheesy

This thread is useless without pics!

Sadly, I didn't get any. I'll ask Matt if he did.

Wow, I thought the crackers were crushed up...

Either way, if it was cooked through properly, and served hot enough(make sure the chicken's cooked), I'd give it a whirl. Doesn't look too bad to me either.

Weirdly enough, a book I am reading just had a scene in which the heroine is cooking steaks marinated in coffee(!)

Seems it is an effective meat tenderizer.

The gravy served with the mashed was also made with coffee, though the reason wasn't all that clear.

I was just thinking that. If it has raw chicken in it there is no way you should be sticking your fork in it.
