I may be there. I happen to be in Canberra for a few weeks. If you're OK with a little french participation. I, unfortunately, do not have brought with me on this trip any SP clothes but I have my faithfull old camera. So if I am in town, I'll be there
Cheers

<Expletive!>
Sorry, I shall not be available on Sunday. (The weekend filled up quickly and I've been keeping the Saturday free...)
Next time, and possibly before!

So we're all good for tomorrow. I've got at least one friend coming, and maybe his girlfriend.
I'll message you a contact number just in case.

Choreocrat, thank you again for organising the meetup. We had a lovely time yesterday afternoon, and talked about getting together every month. We could go to the pub in the cold months and have picnics when it's warm again, and have other outings as well. What do our fellow Canberrans think?

Like I said, I think it's a good idea, and if we can get some others involved, it's much better. Perhaps I'll let Prof B suggest the next time so that he can definitely come.
I definitely had fun yesterday. I like to meet new people, especially friendly ones!

Monthly meetups are good - I'll organise the rest of my life accordingly. The time (e.g., nth Sat/Sun of the month at ?? pm) is the main part for me - a variable location is fine (and possibly part of the fun). Sorry I missed you yesterday...

It was nice meeting everyone yesterday, and the more the merrier! It'll be great if we can get some more people coming. We could make the get-together on the first weekend of each month, maybe? The first weekend in April is Easter, so maybe we could meet up the following weekend instead, because I think a lot of people will be busy or away at Easter. Hm? Hm? Choreocrat, I'm sorry we didn't get to chat much. We have to swap China/Taiwan travel stories next time and shuo zhongwen!

好的。
First X of the month is good. The second week of April is *terrible* for me - that's our Jane Austen Festival. I'll actually be more available on the Easter weekend. My thesis and teaching won't let me go anywhere, but that won't be the case for everyone.
I did like Sunday afternoon for a meeting. As you said, there are fewer hardcore drinkers around a pub then, and that back room is great. It's also a time when I'm less likely to have clashing with other events. I figure we're all a bit temporally challenged. My ring-in friends said (particularly Chris and Jane) they had fun, and would probably meet up again, and if they can come, there are another two who are steampunk inclined who would come (though one is still technically a minor).
We probably should have brought cameras, now that I think about it. That shall have to be remedied next time, I say.

I thought others might have plans since it's a super long weekend, but I'm happy to meet up at Easter. Weekend afternoons are a good time.
Glad Chris and Jane had fun.
King O's doesn't seem to mind kids...there was a family with a little kid in the room with us at one point, although we could go to an all-ages venue instead. I'm one of those safe > sorry types.
I did bring my camera but didn't get a chance to get it out.

First Sunday of the month is OK for me - including over easter. On a slightly different note - is anyone going to the Lifeline Bookfair ? I'll be going on the Friday - 16th April - (taking the day off work) because the catalogue for the rare books sale had me drooling on the carpet. I shall tempt Choreocrat with titles like "Dance of court and theatre: the French noble style, 1690-1725" or even "A Social History of Scottish Dance". Let alone "Rude Timber Buildings in Australia"!!

Dance of court and theatre: the French noble style, 1690-1725 Is that Dolmetsch? That would be tempting! I never miss a bookfair. I find less these days than I used to, because I've built up quite a collection, but I still get my fill of books in or about obscure and odd languages. I've had some great finds there, like the Chrestomathie de l'Ancien Francais (1892) for $2, and a copy of the first book ever printed in Inuktitut for the same (who in Canberra donated that?!). I try to get there pretty early so I'm in the first group in with the line around the carpark. I'm that enthusiastic. Being a student also helps. Cheap books? Of course!

It's written by W. Hilton and published by Dance Boooks, London.
I passed on the last two bookfairs because there wasn't anything in the rare books catalogue I wanted and I find that the general books section doesn't have anything I particularly want anymore. Though the sheet music section usually turns up something interesting.
However, I'm happy to form an early group and wait in line with people. I'll bring thermoses and croissants.

Definitely tea - I can't drink coffee. Or it could be a thermos of chilled G&T...

Definitely tea - I can't drink coffee. Or it could be a thermos of chilled G&T... I suppose that would depend on the weather that morning. I'm no coffee drinker either. I'm one of those that likes the aroma, on occasion, but would never drink the stuff.

Since nobody's settled on a date, I'll call it. Saturday, 3 April, 3pm, in the Victorian/library room behind the main bar in King O'Malley's.

Are you my missing twin brother ? Could be. There's some temporal distortion to work out, but it would make sense. A friend and I have decided that we're likely regenerations of the same timelord, so it wouldn't be too out of place to find a third regeneration. Since nobody's settled on a date, I'll call it. Saturday, 3 April, 3pm, in the Victorian/library room behind the main bar in King O'Malley's. That's not great for me. I have a class at 4pm. Could we go earlier, maybe? 1pm or 2pm?
