I thought about putting this in trading, but since I don't plan to sell either of these, here's the best place.

The name of these mechanical alarm clocks with brassy innards is "DEKAD". There was also a laptop table called DAVE, but that's not the point.

That's a swiss army knife for scale. The clocks themselves are three and a half inches, and the movements are one and a half inches by two and a half inches, containing approximately 6 gears, one escape wheel (plastic, dammit) and the balance wheel. And the pallet fork.

For only four pounds a go, you can't afford to miss this most amazing bargain.

dit: Did some wikiin' and found that it uses a pin-lever escapement.

For pounds? Oh shucks, German Ikea sells them for nearly double the price!

Of the 8 or so tabletop clocks that Ikea has when I was there today, of course the Dekad is
the *only* one that they didn't have several shelves worth of stock sitting around...   Sad

It's very noisy and keeps bad time, just like a good alarm clock should...

I had one of those,  got sick of it, took it apart, and that was that.  (the states have a nigh-identical piece, about 6 bucks at Wal-Mart if I recall)

Replaced them with twin battery powered versions

Here's an update: One of them exploded with a clatterspattersproing.

Broken mainspring, see?
