I can proudly say that not one of my steamy creations is as of yet symmetrical... Remembering that these creations by their very nature have been built before the days of mass-manufacture, so imperfections are to be expected (..so are plenty of dials and gears).

Well apparently it's not as terrible as it seems -=) First off a pic of the FANTASTIC dials the kind Herr Döktor has graced me with: And some progress pics, the off center piping does not seem so bad now: LARGE PICS Shes got some weight to her now...lol. I ended up making washers from the lower part of coke bottle caps (the section that stays on the bottle when you unscrew the cap) 2 per side to take up the space. I will probably run a bead of epoxy around each to simulate welding. =D

In the last picture there it looks brass because of the light above it. Do you plan on brass paint?

Thumbs are for rich people. Work, monkey! Looking sharp, Taggert. Is it wound tight enough as not to show any white gaps?

Well i guess it's time to reveal the other half of this project: This will be used as a base for a backpack mounted steam power plant hehe. I have yet to design it, and any input on how to make a realistic looking one (it will have smoke and moving bits would be appreciated =D

Very nice looking Herr Von Taggërt.
The only suggestion I can make at this stage is to look into those mist/smoke machines they sell around Halloween. I believe you can find one that is battery powered, and should be able to mod it to channel the smoke out a smokestack without too much trouble.

Celadon_Kincaid,
I was thinking exactly that. I also considered using the smokers from scale trains as micromark has a tiny one i can sit in the stack. Not sure if those can be battery powered or not. I'll keep pking around, but first i gotta finish the gun!

Update: Just wanted to give a overview of the gun so far, so i quickly mocked her up and also she finally has a trigger area to body mounting solution. The red canister is actually part of the gun, think of it as a replaceable fule source for the flammable liquid. I have 2 sizes depending on the situation...yes they will be painted...lol. Gauge was quickly thrown together so all screws are not in place. Front piece between the rods will house the nozzles, and the ends of the rods are only placed on as i am n the middle of removing the logos from them. So that's where were at atm !

I recognize the backpack frame. It's for a US Army M-1944 mountain rucksack as used by the Tenth (Mountain) Division in World War II. I believe it was patterned after the popular Norwegian Bergans pack. more information

I have yet to design it, and any input on how to make a realistic looking one (it will have smoke and moving bits would be appreciated =D Great start for a backpack there Taggërt, as far as smoke goes - there are some small 12volt submersible pond accessories that create steam off the surface of the water. Check out the garden suppliers who stock pond parts. And useful things for the backpack build could include: - old brass fire extinguishers (mount two side by side or one small one across the bottom) - farm spray equipment (somtime brass and backpack mounted) - parts from a leafblower (the air intake for the blower) - more vacuum cleaner parts (hey - go with the theme!) And I reckon it needs a steam pressure gauge and a whistle!
