Anyone else confused by the....ahem....sounds of a lady being "sufficiently pleasured" in the short movie on youtube? Was it in the original or did the guy who put it on youtube somehow get it mixed up?

I am not entirely sure, but I am just as intrigued as you as to whether it is part of the video or not.

Not that it was hot at all.

I suspect youtube of shenanigans. I saw the original short film in theaters, and I think I'd recall if there had been such noises.

Yeah, that was good shoggy. Clever bit of animation.

I have often wondered, what a race of aliens, or even what the next race to evolve here after humans die off... what they would make of us from trying to piece together our world, from all the junk and rubbish we have littered it with? Dental appliances, for instance... you know, false teeth, don't seem to break down over time, so there will be millions of sets of dentures around. And Volkswagen hubcaps.

I see in my mind's eye some creature holding these items up and explaining, "We don't know for sure what kind of beings lived here before us... but we think their heads mere made entirely from plastic (holds up teeth), and they wore these for hats (holds up VW hubcap)

I'm really very tempted to start activly defending this as NOT a "Tim Burton" piece.
It's kind of annoying that while Shane Acker worked on nearly every aspect of the short, and is writing and directing the feature length it is Tim Burton's name that is getting battered around the media. I guess if I was a fan of Burtons I wouldn't mind but as I'm not...

It's almost as bad as the "Quentin Tarantino presents" nonsense, god forbid credit might be given to the actual people who created it. Oh wait that won't attract as many people.  Roll Eyes

Good point. Full credit and acknowledgment to Shane Acker and the actual production crew.

Well I think that with Quentin Tarantino though, his stuff is usually better than his "presented stuff"...I think Acker may even outdo Burton.

Acker and his crew pulled off a remarkable achievement producing that ten minute piece with so few people.  I notice it's UCLA based though so I'm guessing it's a graduation piece.   Some crafty use of character design and props to make things a little easier for themselves, but really quite an achievement.

Well I was being slightly facetious in that last post, but as I've been wandering the net every time "9" comes up it's all "Tim Burton this" and "Timur Bekmambetov that." I can't remember the last time people actually cared so obsessively who 2 of the 7 producers were.
Grin

I can't really remeber any other UCLA pieces that were quite up to the standards of "9" though, which really does speak volumes about how much they put in.
...they better have got full marks. Cheesy

Not directed by him, but produced by. Looks like it's based on a short film(and will be directed by the same person who made it), which i'm gonna check out sometime soon

And yeah, it does look really really cool.

That short film is AWESOME. at least 8/10 SBU's.

Nice, reminds me of a disney cartoon where animals were the only survivors after WW1 and they built a city out of dead soldier's helmets. (tried to find it on you tube but no luck)

My god, I thought I was the only one who remembered that!

I watched the short on Klynt's link (Wiki has a link to
daily motion's post of it
, and there is no porno soundtrack on that one. The quality is better as well.

In my defense the movie homepage has "Tim Burton" as the first name in the production list and I didn't bother reading his job title /blush - subject line amended appropriately Smiley

Ach, nae worries mate. It's the powers that be deciding that Burtons name is needed as a "draw" that are to blame, trying to get as many of the wee Burton obsessed kiddies to go watch it I guess, heck even the song used in the trailer is by a decidedly "hot topic emo/alternative kid" band, though it is their only passable song in my opinion. Grin
Though just putting the original short around would in my opinion create more of a draw through its own quality, but that's hollyweird for you. Roll Eyes

I don't think Disney made that. I think that was a Warner brothers cartoon. but i remember that one, it was pretty cool.

The film looks great. Exactly the sort of thing I was looking for in 2009.

This might stop me re-watching Dark City every other weekend...

I will definitely watch this film. Looking forward to this and Coraline. 2009 is looking like a good year for movies.
