Greetings,

I have been registered for a while but have yet to make a post. I am extremely interested in all things Steampunk, but have not known where to start on my journey into this community. I have began reading some of the recommended texts and have been keeping up with the tinkerers, as this seems to be where I shall fit among the masses. As my first donation to this forum and the steampunk world as a whole I would like to both introduce myself, Professor Roderick Likeman, and present to you Professor Roderick Likeman's Multifunctional Whirling Gyroscopic Energy Harness:

My main passion is yo-yoing. Within that community I am a modder, manufacturer, player, and organizer. I have been yo-yoing since 1995. One of my main goals is to bridge the gap between the yo-yo community and the steampunk community by moddifying yo-yoes in steampunk inspired themes. The yo-yo above, or Multifunctional Whirling Gyroscopic Energy Harness as I have called it(Let me know what you think of the name or if you would call it something better. I would appreciate some feedback), is one of the new entry level yo-yoes brought to you by YoYoFactory(very steamy name). It was originally all white and was primed and painted.

To learn more about what I do and to see my other yo-yo mods visit: www.freewebs.com/insomnimaxx. The yo-yo above is the only steam punk themed piece I have so far but I am hoping to change that soon.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you all around the boards more often.

According to the wiki article on yo-yos, they've been around since the ancient Greeks so the Victorians clearly had them, making a steamed yo-yo entirely appropriate.  markf

Back in undergrad school I used to juggle in front of my dorm with a couple of guys I taught to juggle.  I picked up a few yoyo tricks to break up the regular routine we had come up with, and I have to say for such an old toy they are still a blast!

You should get some of those on your shop, set up on Etsy, or find some other set up.  I'd love something like that.

Very nice and definitely post others, and I like the name.

It is funny you should mention spikes and flames cause they have done both. There is a guy who does custom jobs:http://www.dif-e-yo.com/custom.htm and someone else did a fire yoyo:http://www.primalfire.org/index/store/fireyoyo.JPG.

That's a really good idea, especially if you are good with those things.
