"Higgs deal with the clank!" "..."
Ha. Dude is awesome, he's tough as a Jager monster, with a touch of Silent Bob. Anybody that Zeetha believes can cover her back against a lunatic battle clank inhabited by an insane entity has got to be one of the most hard core people on the planet.
Maybe I can arrange for him to be adopted into the Jager clan, I was after all (adopted by Jaggards at any rate, we descended from Jagers literally).

Don't you just love all these overly helpful sidekicks lackeys friends? And I have to agree about Higgs' superior construction.

It is good to have Higgs back. The man has super-human levels of sang froid.
(What it Higgs' rank? I would like to think he is a bos'n, since that would be a perfect physics geek joke.)

Actually, Machinist's Mate is a rating, the description of his job on the ship, but Higgs' actual rank is Airman Third Class. Depending on Wolfenbach aircrew rank structures, he'd need about five promotions and a transfer between departments to make Bosun. I'm sorry for any disappointment caused by this.
Simply by being the Unstoppable Higgs, he should be able to slow Otilia-Castle down enough to let Violetta and Zeetha get Agatha safely locketed. Violetta has the locket and is a Smoke Knight (Sturmvoraus Ninja, for those who haven't been following closely) and Zeetha is, well, Zeetha. That leaves the remainder of two full crews of Agatha's minions who have never even met to sort out a rolling three party Si Vales Valeo that has never been attempted - without blowing a hole through the middle of Europa.
But they'll have to do it without that amiable Spark Theophilus DuMedd. He'll be receiving a thorough and lively practical demonstration of Why You Never Remove Restraints Unless You Know What They Were Put On For.

I was of the impression that Higgs would skip the rank of boatswain. I don't know WHAT Higgs is, but his ability to go toe to toe with the best is clearly pronounced. Nonchalantly brushing off something that would kill a lesser man isn't that ordinary, even in the Spark community. Jägermonsters don't count.

I a reevaluating my opinion of Higgs. This is clearly not the same man who had his leg broken by a goose when rescuing the Baron (and Bangladesh DuPree, but I do not hold that lapse of judgement against him).
He appears to be augmented somehow now. Perhaps they used a variation of Jagerdraft on him during his recovery?

Agreed on the large, tasty waterfowl. BUT - Higgs just was smashed by a battle-clank hard enough to make a Higgs-shaped impression in a stone wall. There is no way that Higgs now has the same constitution he had when first came to our attention.

Given the fact that he was in Mamma Gkika's Under the Cellars with the Jägers, completely healed of multiple fractures and a gunshot less than two days after the incident, Higgs is indubitably full to the eyebrows of Battledraught.

or maybe the geese in question were jager geese. seems to me that the thing that live in the wilds of the world are a wee bit more dangerous than in our world. Of course if my memory serves that whole discussion of his harrowing journey seemed more for the purposes of absurd levels of opposition. Reminds me of how Torg says the evil Alien clone was defeated- fell down the stairs, hit a door knob, stubbed her pinky toe on the coffe table and after all that just lost the will to live.

I must say that this was my first guess, although it would be quite disappointing. Always identified a bit with Higgs, what with him being the only blond, pipe-smoking snarker around, and I'd at least like to think he's tougher than he looks...

I am again struck dumb by the level of wit and inventiveness the Foglios apply to even the most minor throw-away line.
"Mr. Hissyfit?" Absolutely perfect. (And that it was a giant, dangerous mechanical snake is pure genius.)

o_O Could Higgs be from one of the Families? That little conversation with Otila... He's Heterodyne blond (he's got the eyebrows too!) with Klaus' cheekbones. Could it be that Agatha and Gil have a half-brother? We know Lucrezia and Klaus were a unit for a while... And if my wild theory is correct, and Klaus fortified him the same way he did Gil... it would explain much. *flings hands up in the air* I don't know, do I?
