You probably all know the game called Cluedo. In some countries it´s known as Clue. I figured it would be a simple project to make a steampunk version of it. I wanted to hear your suggestions to what could be done. I guess some form of mansion would still be the best location for it, but with a laboratory and a smoking room as locations. Some form of ray gun would work well as a murder weapon, I´m not sure what others would work.

Does it need any effort? It's Victorian enough as it is, with a pepperbox pistol and all.

Weapons (there were 6 in the original I think?)
Goggles - the strap on them used to strangle the victim in the study (or smoking room).
Walking stick (cf numerous posts on self defence with one). Or umbrella.
Gas lamp - clobbering someone over the head with same, or gassing them.

Rooms (9 in the original)
Library and Study would still work

Full, extended list of Characters, excluding those added by the movie...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluedo_characters

They all seem fairly steampunk, or at leat easily convertible...

The Colonel will still work quite well. The Reverend would work better as some kind of scientist. There should probably be a Lady something in there. Maybe a big game hunter.

Professor Plum already fits quite well.

Ms. Scarlett could be easily changed to a Lady Scarlett.

I would have thought the Big game hunter could be covered by the Colonel.

Rev Green could become Dr Green - and isn't the victim a Dr too? No reason they have to be medical drs

Take a look at Kill doctor lucky for some ideas. A big sprawling mansion, a potty old professor, Murder most foul. Except, it is more like reverse cluedo.. as in you are commiting the murder (teehee). Anyway isn't Cluedo meant to be similar in style to Murder mysterys of old? As written by Agatha christie et al.

I don't think a Modern version would be as fun, Cluedo : Csi? Would be boring and over in five minutes.

I propose that Hunter Van Pelt could easily fit the bill as Colonel Mustard

Mrs Peacock would be more suited as a Grand Duchess or something. Mrs White could get a promotion from kitchen staff to exotic food critic, perhaps. Miss Scarlett should stay as Miss Scarlett.

Killing someone with a tesla coil seems rather impractical, unless you hit them on the head with a small one.

IMHO I think a steampunk adaptation of Kill Doctor Lucky would be far better.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the game, it's like Cluedo except you have to commit the murder.

I'd by a Steamy version of either.

Though the CheapAss game would be easier to mod, I'd think.

"Mr. Edison did it in the Laboratory with the Galvanic Tesla Cannon!"  (talk about irony.....)

As for murder weapons:

Galvanic Tesla Cannon (or rifle)
Brass Cane/Walking Stick
Garrote
Electrick Candleabra (not only can you bludgeon the victim to death, but you can electrocute them while you're at it!)
18" Monkey Wrench (that's an adjustable Spanner to you Brits)
Letting the Experiment Loose (just had to add that one Grin)
Slaver wasps (sorry, Girl Genius reference, there)

Hmmmm.... I'll have to think some more on this.
