With regard to abbreviations, might I suggest GH = 'Good Heavens!'
and MG 'My goodness!' or  GM 'Goodness me!'
Also WOE = 'What on Earth?!'
TNC = 'That's not cricket!'
PTG = 'Play the game!'
JGS = 'Jolly good show!'

However, I am inclined to agree that whilst things like the monocle emoticon are, indeed, rather wondrous of their type, that overuse of abbreviations is likely to hinder, rather than help, communication.  Fun to invent, though!

As a continuation re abbreviations, I put forth TMH for "tip my hat", as a sort of "Good work, old fellow, please continue" type of thing.

I saw this quaint little list on Tor last month: http://www.tor.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=blog&id=58169

To which I might add one which I saw yesterday: A Dr. Steel salute:  :^)\

(The slash being the fist over the heart, of course...)

But you missed "Od's Fish, m'dear!", "Sink me!" and "What ho!"

Maybe those who favour a more yankee sort of Steampunk could come up with some more.
