I dressed as a Native American, sold to cowboys, then ran away to join pirates.

That's as maybe, but look at the size of that cog! Not my own, unfortunately. It's part of an outdoors art fixture in Durham. You can view the rest of it here, including the cow. Am very flattered. Oh, they're sections of columns! Still, very nice installation- modern art doesn't have to be so challenging that you can't work out what it is after all. By the way, costumemercenary , it's very good that you are wearing the outfit, as opposed to the outfit wearing you...

I rather like your goggles! I was actually thinking of making some aluminum hoods out of a beer can for a pair of goggles I consider goggles from ginger beer bottles to be inspired! I'll have to remember that... Not my idea, so not my credit, but I have been making a pair in a similar vein and have started to write it up on my blog. It's really very primitive compared to all the much more exciting things further up the thread, but for those who're working out of a kitchen, it might be helpful. By the way, costumemercenary , it's very good that you are wearing the outfit, as opposed to the outfit wearing you... Funny you say that, since I frequently feel like outfits are wearing me. The costume is character and all that. We (i.e. the photographer and myself) were vaguely going for pin-up shots, but the cold rather put a damper on those plans and the lack of light nipped it all in the bud. The only evidence of them now is the black corset I was wearing.

Very nice. Now you just have to get the same treatment from Scienceworks or the Melbourne Musem.

(seems like i have a favor for girls with glasses >.>) You're not the only one, very nice Finally got around to uploading some new photos, this one was taken during the snow between christmas/new year. Not a brilliant one but I rarely seem to come out well in photos.

Well, HUZZAH! Nice helmet! I'm going to make my own, I've sourced a fibreglass WWII 'coalscuttle' style helmet as a base, and it's going to be for a zeppelin admiral...MWA-HA-HA!!!

No. And my helmet will have a very special spike, that will not puncture the envelope, and will act as a fire extinguisher. PS: Isn't there a movie where a Tueton in a Pickelhaube punctures his own airship? Is it the classic 'The Assassination Bureau'?

I've always thout that having a pointy hat on a zeppelin would be double trouble- apart from the possibility of rupture (OUCH!), there's always the chance of a lightning strike, as electrickery likes a pointy metal spike...

Perhaps we are seeing the origins of a new steampunk expression: "He was as nervous as a pickelhaube-wearer in a Tesla-coil lab" Useful if someone decides to write a steamed version of Mickey Spillane.
