At some point or another - i will make the assumption that we have all attired ourselves in steampunk or period clothing.
If anyone wishes to do so - let this be the thread to post imagery of yourselves - thus to give an idea of styles for the new and forthcoming

Regards

Well- start it as I mean to go on - I know some of these certainly aren't steampunk - but i enjoy making photos "old" stylee.

(Pith Helmet, Suede Jacket, Silk Scarf, Leather Gloves, Luger P-08 Pistol)

(Volkswagen Beetle, about 7 years ago, and from left to right: Me, Me, Me and Me)

Myself, as snapped by sally, one random evening after a few beers, attempting to get my banjo in tune.

And before anyone else points it out - yes there is hideous innacuracies here. The turn of the century style of the photo with the WW2 poster in the background, the retro team photo using a 1974 Beetle, and so on. But feel free to post your own images please. Make it a group thing!

I dress up mostly for my press photos. These ones are a good example:

Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of steamtech gadgets to wear as accessories.

Done a bit of Live Roleplay, but nothing Steampunk yet! But it does mean I have a lot of costume laying around: here's a big version of my avatar:

Top hat, Gothic coat, goggles, wing collar shirt, black velvet waistcoat and cravat, all within easy reach!

Oh, and a skull.

Got plenty of period clobber, tailcoats, stripy trousers, lots of black velvet: my favorite has to be the pinstripe black velvet suit with the long high button jacket- I'll have to pop it on and post a picture, it's luverly!

I haven't got much in the ways of steampunk clothing (yet) but I am working on a costume with a post-apocalyptical steampunk feel to. If you have read the "gone with the blastwave" webcomic you will know what I am talking about. Just think of that in a steampunk era.

I really only have one period pic, but I'm really digging on my new Prince Philip hat, so I'm sure there will be more soon.

oh and this one, doing my best somber portrait-sitting expression

Then there's this one I guess. Not really period because im wearing jeans, a wallet chain and a hoody, but there's a bunch of neat wood and brass stuff around.

That's pretty much my everyday outfit.
*Sigh* I'm like a friggin cartoon.

The shirt is not so vintage looking, but...
And of course, my lady companion is quite modern in her clothing tastes... All that skin... Shocked Wink
This was my girlfriend's b-day dinner at Teatro Zinzanni in Seattle. Not quite a steampunk establishment, though I still recommend it, more a modern take on burlesque/Vaudeville. Worth checking out, and if you went in full steampunk regalia, you wouldn't look out of place.

With custom polarized lenses...yes indeed.

Not as nice as some of my custom pairs. Eventually I will have some pictures of those for post, right now my digital camera is on the fritz.

Also,I noticed in your last picture that you have that Eiffel Tower phone. We are having a discussion about it at another topic...IS it made from cheap plastic with a tacky electronic ring? Just curious.

Indeed I agree, there must be a story behind that frame, and I for one would love to hear it.

Sweet, I love Willsons. That's what I'm wearing in the tophat pic too.

I'm not sure about the origin of the frame. It was something my mother found somewhere and had stuffed behind her china cabinet. I fell in love with it instantly. I asked her for it a dozen times and she wouldnt part with it, but still it sat tucked away for the next 3 years. Finally I had enough and I just liberated it. I couldn't bear to see it collecting dust any longer.
After all her protests and her refusal to give it to me, she really didnt have a problem with it when she eventually saw it hanging in my place. She just said "oh that looks nice there!"

I have plans of refurbishing it eventually and most likely building a replica or two while I'm at it. It's a beautiful piece.

P.S. you might see me at this Maledication place eventually. I'm in the process of planning a move to the L.A. area right now.

Oh, the phone!

That phone I have is by Crosley Radio (there was a Brass Goggles post about it a few weeks back).

It's identical to the one in that other thread, but about 1/5th the price. It's plastic, but painted rather convincingly. Even the pieces that are exposed plastic look like Bakelite though.

Sadly, it does have a cheesy electric ring but if you turn that handle, the actual bells ring. I was thinking of putting a small electric motor and a belt/gear in it and hooking the handle mechanism into the chime circuit.

I always wondered what they were... I found a pair that look incredibly similar to yours at a flea market once, best dollar I've ever spent. It was a bit bent when I bought it, mostly the mesh bits guarding the sides of the eye, but they were easily reshaped and they serve me well when I work at the forge. I'm having similar problems with my own camera, but when it feels like it's ready to take pitcures again, I'll post.

The only thing steam punky i wear is a mechanical pocket watch with the gears showing. It is pwetty...The other high-schoolers find it extremely odd, but maybe that is one of the reasons i am attracted to it.
