Mechanical Clock Screensaver - ‘Giveaway of the Day’ site.

A while ago, ‘Giveaway of the Day’ had the Nautilus screensaver for free for one day only, today it’s the above mechanical clock screensaver! As of writing this, there’s just over 15 hours left, and if it’s anything like the previous screensaver offer, you need to actually install it within those 15 hours, or it won’t work.
Still, from looking at the pictures it looks a perfectly marvelous clock mechanism - strangely glowing numerals and moving gears. I’m sure there are several Steampunk computers and laptops out there that it would be most suited to. Thank you very much Mr Bardinelli for pointing it out!

Well, sort of free. It works for about 5 minutes and then a popup obscures the clock, harassing you to buy the thing. At US$15.95, it seems a bit steep for the market. Yes, the graphics are fantastic.

To Mr Newall: Strange, I just downloaded and ran it myself, waiting for about 10 minutes of running to see this popup of which you speak, but it didn’t appear.
I have to ask - did you run the activation before the setup? It sounds counterintuitive, but it was what the ReadMe.txt advised. Otherwise, I’d imagine it would be run without registration, and you’d be running some kind of trial version - hence the popup.
I do hope you can get it to work, because from what I can see, it shouldn’t do that popup.

Aww, darn. It looks lovely, but unfortunately I am several hundred miles from my computer today and can’t DL it. Alas.

I ran the activation after setup, and I have had no problems. Great looking screen saver. Beats the hell out of looking at a cable box for the time.

Here is the shareware version on their site.

They seem to have freeware (The One Ring) and shareware items on their site.

Oops. Now that I’ve installed the shareware version (I missed the free version by a few hours) of the screensaver it does have a box pop-up asking you to buy it or not. Oh well. It is beautiful though.

[...] Found via Brass Goggles, here is a really cool mechanical clock screensaver. It was free for a day which I seemed to have missed but even the shareware version, which has some limitations is pretty cool. Check it out here. [...]

GiveAwayOfTheDay website is pretty good I guess. They offer those mindless screemsavers which nobody wants or needs. Can someone tell me, what good are screensavers this day and time. LCD monitors dont get image burn in like back in the olden days. My advise to GAOTD is, if they want to keep people coming coming back, they need to quit offering screensavers!
