Hey, is there an age limit? It is uncomfortable for me to admmit, but I am 12 years old, but I like steampunk and i've written a thirty-two page story (non steampunk) and I would like to submit a story, may I join?

SFWA guidelines for Associate membership:

One Paid Sale of prose fiction (such as short stories) to a Qualifying Professional Market, paid at the rate of 5c/word or higher (3c/word before 1/1/2004), minimum $50.

Not quite 1c/w really doesn't cut it if they want to attract talent...

Isn't that something like $0.005 a word? That's kinda crap for a story, actually. No decent publisher is going to pay a writer that little. There's also I find it a bit worrisome that they're offering a flat rate per story, not per word. There was a whole hullabaloo about publishers who use practices like this not a month or two ago.
