Rag And Bone – Septuacycle in the Steampunk Style

Rag And Bone custom bicycle

Over at the Rat Rod Bikes forum (which seems to have quite a few Steampunk bikes now), member Gaskill has created the above beautifully bewheeled septuacycle (seven wheels, if I’ve not miscounted) called The Rag And Bone. With what looks like a suspended amber headlamp, and to be honest, more wheels than three conventional bikes put together, it’s eye catching and delightful. Not sure how it’ll go over bumps, but I suppose you don’t really care if you have a bike like that! Thank you very much to Mr Danny, the Lobsterboy, for pointing it out.

    That's pretty cool.

While I'm thinking about Steampunk bikes, or at least Victorian bikes, I came across this cartoon yesterday and thought the Steampunk community would probably appreciate it. So this is well timed, now I have a place to post it!

I love that lamp. It reminds me of some of the biker's around here with their 'hogs'. I think it's because of the front of the bike. Still, very nice and I wish I could have one.
  • My father's a bicycle frame builder by trade, so I'll have to show this to him!

The bike was built by a student at Middle Tennessee State University and was on display within the university's art building for several weeks. I have to say that seeing it in-person is even more impressive than the photo. It's a beautiful piece. Adam really put a lot of hard work into it, and it definitely shows.
  • It is so confusing and excessive that I love it!
  • This is so very awesome. So very, very awesome. :D

The only thing that could have made this better is if white-wall tires (like the 2 in the front) were used across the entire bike. It would have given it a more "old" feel. But, i'm not complaining. This is truly and amazing creation.

  • Most impressive styling. I hope it rides well enough to allow the owner to be a daily, living steampunk.
