I've actually pondered somewhat on the challenges of steam powered dirigibles. One problem is that water is pretty heavy, and unless you have some sort of condenser (very difficult to manage given air's poor heat transfer) you'll gradually expend all of it as you go, losing weight - and of course, so you will burning coal.</p> <p>Not to say that steam powered dirigibles are a bad idea, just that they present some tricky engineering challenges.
