The great and random patrickwilsonmusic.com has just done us all a great favor. He took his father’s aviation goggles and has made a wonderful tutorial on how to reproduce them, including scale pattens that can be printed from the web site. Easy! & Free!

I’m sure you could have a great deal of fun making your own.

i still need to go look in person, but i have seen kolks with some pretty cool off-the-shelf goggles, that would also work for a modification like this one...

the goggles can be found at industrial safety suppliers, and are welding goggles... for gas welding. some are rated for very low UV and are a pale green like in this article... there are some that even come with small leather-ette flaps at the sides to stop sparks bouncing into the eyes. handy!

happy hunting. i think i will head off this afternoon myself...

I'm wondering where he got the tin and green glass.
I could see salvaging some steel off of tuna cans or something like that, but I don't know where I'd get disks of round glass.
