Telecroscope Meeting Today (And White Mischief)

Telectroscope London SideTelectroscope New York Side

A quick reminder (as I shall be travelling and preparing soon) that today is the day (the 7th) for getting yourself down to your nearest Telectroscope end (London or New York), encountering other Steampunk fans, and waving to those across the pond!

London: 7pm

New York: 2pm

For those in the London area, remember that White Mischief – 80 Days Around The World event is on shortly afterwards and this would be the perfect start to a wonderful evening!

Arrive promptly on either end of the great trans-atlantic viewing tube, and the good people of the Telectroscope may well be able to get us to the front of the queue.  (And if you see either of these dubious looking ladies, do say hello.)

I saw the Telectroscope a few weeks ago on the "opening day" of the exhibit, it was most interesting. I am slightly ashamed to say that after a pint, I did "moon" the London Bridge.

White Mischief's Steampunk event was wonderful. So exciting to arrive and see the massess arriving in their finery. See our family group prior to departure at http://www.flickr.com/photos/8946321@N07/256494... and in front of Mr Fogg's balloon at http://www.flickr.com/photos/8946321@N07/256576...
  • Check out my piece on Telectroscope in The Wall Street Journal. I'm in Steampunk garb!!!

What a marvelous device! I am sure this will revolutionize business, because we can now communicate across the oceans by holding up documents in front of the telectroscope. Since Dr Michelson's work we know that light travels ever so much faster than telegraphy signals, and here's a practical application. I am sure that one day all information will be transmitted over optical networks instead of cables.
  • oh, hellfire. i forgot about this completely!
  • I'm afraid I won't make it, though I suppose I could still hop on a zeppelin, make for London, and be on time, but its financial concerns that prevent me from attending, unfortunately. I do wish those who shall attent a jolly good time and am looking forward to photographic documentation of the event!
