When I designed my version of the Steampunk Dalek, I tried to make every part of it have a functional purpose for being there. Rather than just slapping on parts that looked cool, each piston, gear, and smokestack had a purpose.

This is a cool model, but I’m a bit confused as to what all those pipes are for…and is that the steering assembly in front?

Much respect for Alex Holden and his model, and best of luck at the convention!

Ummmm, I find it amazing and silly that people want to discuss the impracticallities of a science fiction character that has been turned into a sculptural piece.
It looks good.
the part about some of the comments that I read that i thought were silly was ‘happy comment BUT and then its tear the piece apart.’
Sorry if I offend anyone
perhaps i should relax a bit as some other people should just enjoy the art work

the “piston” at the side? actually a cleverly disguised brake device for those persons crazy enough to get too close to the dalek and intelligent enough to discerne the functon of said brake.
