Unklian’s Steampunk Furnace Mouse

Unklian's Steampunk Furnace Mouse

Over at the Steampunk Forum, Unklian recently showed his most magnificient Steampunk mouse mod!  With wonderfully detailed and forthright photographs and descriptions on how he went about making it at his site, you’ll see how he made a glowing, ember-filled furnace for this wonderful Babbage accessory device.  However, it seems that Unklian has been bitten by the Steampunk bug and has already set about making an improved Mk2 version – the work in progress can also be found on his site.

Do take a look at the other photographs – in particular the ones showing the ‘furnace’ at full blast!  Fantastic work, Mr Unklian – good luck with your next one!

Sounds like the proper term for you would now be "Steampunklian". And, as has been said by many others, good show! Very nice work! Also, keep in mind that ladies duly appreciate the scarred appearance of manufacturing wounds!
  • Wow,
    Thanks for the positive comments.
I've always loved tinkering and vehicles.
I used to think big, (choppers & trikes) but in 1998, I had a serious bike accident which left me with no use in my left arm. (A brachial Plexus Injury).
Following a fantastic operation by a surgeon called Gavin Miller, I have a little use back.
I can now do "stuff" providing things are in the right place and my hand and arm are supported.
I found out about Steampunk from a Motorcycling website called The Kneeslider. I now have something to tinker with.
Soldering and hot things are still a problem as I can't feel heat in my left hand and don't notice my hand burning 'till it smells.
After the Mk2 & Mk3 mice, I would like to try a case mod.
    By the way......
    I'm "Ian"
I was called Unklian...... "Uncle...Ian" by friends because of my steady motorcycle riding.
Now I've found Steampunk, I'm here to stay.
    Love the stuff.
    Ian.
  • Very nice, indeed! Checking out the site, I thought "this guy is an excellent craftsman!" and THEN I saw The Big Trike! Now THAT is an impressive machine!
  • Top-shelf stuff, Mr. Unklian!
