A Gentleman’s Duel Animated Short

Gentlemen's Duel short by Blur
[edit - Video was removed from Dailymotion, alas.  Hopefully there will be a legitimate place to see it soon.  (Let me know if you find one.)]
I hadn’t been planning to post tonight, but for the deeply Steampunk Blur animated short, I will happily make an exception. A Gentleman’s Duel, by Blur, we’ve posted about in the past, and linked to the trailer – and to be honest I don’t know if the above video from Dailymotion is ‘allowed’ so to speak, but it has more than served its purpose because I will buy this given the first chance! I wish there were more from this wonderful Steampunk setting they have.
Two gentlemen, one lady – something has to give! An earthshattering battle and a cheeky ending. Highly recommended. Thanks to two gentlemen – M. Christian and Mr Goblyn. I’d watched this at work recently, but couldn’t find a link – thank you both!

I had a comment I wanted to leave but it would be a spoiler so I'll just say...
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! (etc. etc.)
  • Kest
    Very well done.

Reminds me a bit of Aqua Knight.

Hmm... I'm long overdue for work in the laboratory and my workshop. I believe I have found my motivation to return.

Oh dear... i was going to post about this sooner!! Drat...

On Gaiaonline.com, a manga-style forum site, also has A Gentleman's Duel playing in its "Gaia Cinema" and I nearly went crazy with squeals because I had saw the trailer for it here months before!!

If people would like to see it there (its good quality video), joining is free. And tell 'em that D!hydr0g3n M0n0x!de sent you!
  • I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw that this had been posted. I saw it on the big screen (which, in my opinion, is the best and only way to see this particular film) at an animation festival all the way back in October or November of last year. I loved it then, and I love it now. I waited almost a year to see it in its entirity again, and now that it is finally available, I'm absolutely extatic (as you no doubt can tell). Well, I guess that's all for now. I suppose I just felt like thanking you and sharing my joy and enthusiasm for the best animated short I've seen in a very long time.
    Cheers,

Bah! Work does not have flash...and Im AT work at the moment...grrrr, must.....wait.......
  • Tinkergirl
Oh I'd love to see this on the big screen, but I've not heard of any showings near me. Such a shame.

It is good fun - and don't worry Mr Adams - it's worth the wait.

    Fantastic!
  • Bravo to the artists! The quality of the animation is fantastic! Dreamwork could learn some of them...
  • SM

    Damm,
I remember seeing news about the artist on CGtalks forums.
This is the future! All for the mechanical DVD now!

    Amazing!

    Hysterical!

Believe it or not, "A Gentleman's Duel" was featured (However breifly) on "Attack of the Show" a sort of news program for the G4 network. Amazing that such an unknown animation is reached the (sorta) mainstream!
  • Prof. Zervo
Tarnation! It's been pulled! Any alternative links to it? O'wise, there's always the possibility of visiting www.blur.com and checking it out there.
  • Tinkergirl
Ah yes, so it has. Bother, but not unexpected - I wasn't sure if it had been allowed to be posted (it seems to get put in unexpected places) but I expect that after it got mentioned on BoingBoing, someone noticed and checked up on it.

I do hope they let us know when there's a legitimate way to watch it - it didn't get shown near me.

I saw that the animation was featured at the animation festival of Annecy. Unfortunatly the dvd featuring the festival does not propose it :(
  • So far the film has not resurfaced but the trailer is visible from the blur site:

Not a real consolation for those who have NOT seen it, but better than nothing.
