Weta Rayguns – Informational Advertisment!

I’m sure many readers have had problems when dining with Venusian princesses, or had their cocktail parties ruined by the pesky moonmen – well, Weta have considered just those problems and adressed them in this highly informative advertisment for their rayguns!  With rockets in the background and pithhelmets aplenty, it’s a rather amusing, and rather Steampunk, two and two thirds of a minute!  Thanks Mr Walpole!

    The "Manmelter 3600 ZX Sub-Atomic Disintegrator Pistol" bears an unmistakable resemblance to the legendary diecast "Atomic Disintegrator" cap gun made by the Hubley Manufacturing Co. in the early '50s (and featured in the B-classic feature film "Teenagers from Outer Space"). The "F.M.O.M. Industries Wave Disruptor Gun" is also clearly inspired by classic '50s rayguns, notably the famous Dan Dare cap gun. And I'm sure one could likewise find thematic ancestors from the same period and style for the "Goliathon 83 Infinity Beam Projector" if one went looking.

    In other words, PURE WIN AND AWESOME! :D

    Also, WETA seems to be linking to here these days from their website. I know it is how I got here. And I do know that all three of those guns are such beauties that I can't decide which one I pine over more. (I think it is the F.M.O.M. model but don't tell the others!)
