Vladimir Gvozdev’s Mechanical Creatures

The good Mr Brian spotted these delightful images over at the terribly noble BibliOdyssey (anyone who loves books is automatically high in my praises). The illustrative work of the artist Vladimir Gvozdev of Moscow (beware, Flash site – makes ’splooky’ noises), these are beautiful setups of animals as if created by a Steampunk artisan of the finest skill. Brass and clockwork, gears and precious stones – all with unique and lovely surrounds. I wonder, for example, how fast this tortoise/turtle would go, with that large wheel!
If you go to Mr Gvozdev’s site (Gvozdariki), the man with the pipe will take you to the Mechanics images. (But I recommend the doll images too – there’s a hot air fish and a lady walking her miniature elephant!)
[Edit: Foolishly, wrote the name of the webpage as the authors surname - terribly sorry, I have corrected the mistake in the post above. Many thanks, Peacay!]
