Steampunk Lightsaber – “Lumen ex Consilium”

Steampunk Lightsaber

Mr Jones and Mr Sherrill were both on form today, sending word of a Steampunk Lightsaber prop construction (above image lacks emitter) that was posted over at Table of Malcontents. It’s very nicely made indeed, and was apparently inspired by the inclusion of the planet Ganeth in the book Dark Empire 2 (apparently Star Wars is big enough for Steampunk, steam-powered starships!)
There are three pages of posts on the lightsaber, but this entry here was of the most interest to me – it’s a selection of photographs of the making of the lightsaber. Cut and painted quartz, valves, leather and brass – very nice indeed!

[edit] Created by Jon C. Acosta, the image has been updated to show the actual finished lightsaber.

  • Dashcan
I'm not sure why, but I don't much care for the 'open' looking handle. A burnished oak or walnut handle, with a spiral leather grip, with that 'glassy' part coming out [with an appropriate yellow, flickering glow] woulda looked nifty. But that's just my opinion.
  • That is really great! I showed it to a few friends, and they referred me to the sabers / guns on this site:

  • I have, once again, been rendered speechless!

    Apparently i can still type...
