Steam Gauge Yahoo Widget

Steam 'Gage' Widget

Mr Tretakoff points out a tiny, but amusing Yahoo Widget that a Mr J Kendall has written called the “Steam Gage“.  It sits apon your desktop and informs you of your CPU usage, but should it get too high, it’ll start to steam and shake most alarmingly!

According to the comments, it’s a bit too small for many, but it sounds like a lovely little thing.  I’m sure it would look not in the slightest bit out of place with some of the computational device modifications that we’ve seen recently.  Thank you, Mr Tretakoff!

I'm enjoying the heck out of the Steam Gauge, and also the Grandfather clock, but every time I reboot my machine, it stops showing those two, and only shows original Yahoo widgets. Anyone have a clue on how to fix that?

And yes, with the Old Factory Firefox and Windows themes, plus the sounds, the effect is nothing shy of lovely... I also recommend the clock screensaver made by the same folks that made the Nautilus 3d screensaver. Now if I could just find a proper Trillian theme!
  • My distinct pleasure. Thank YOU for running such a lovely journal.

The widget, while small, is extremely animated, and adds a wondrous touch when combined with the soundset referenced elsewhere in Brass Goggles. Add the Old Factory Firefox Theme, and you are well on your way to transforming your silicon box to a gear filled, steaming modern Difference Engine. ;-)
  • I have this myself and combo it with the Grandfather Clock - http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widge... - which looks smashing :-)
