Mr Bicksler wrote yesterday to tell me about a perfectly amazing collection of diving helmets owned by Mr Leon Lyons, considered to be one of the foremost authorities on such items. There’s a most impressive page of photographs of Mr Lyons collection over at the much larger Vulcania Submarine page, a page that takes interest in Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea to encyclopaedic extremes. And I mean that in the most respectful and deferential way. The helmets are just so beautiful though – shelves and shelves of them, some patinaed patinated, some polished to a brilliant shine. But the one helmet that I believe Vulcania loves the most, is the 20,000 Leagues helmet. Thank you, Mr Bicksler.
