I used Mr. Boyd’s plans to build my first Stirling engine and it runs great. I am hooked and in the process of building my second Stirling of my own design. Again Thanks to Darryl I have learned a great deal about Stirling engines.

Alas, Mr Jones, I am no Stirling engine expert, but it sounds like you generate enough heat to power even a relatively inefficient Stirling engine. Possibly making one like the above would work for you, but alternatively you could look in to more efficient Stirling engines that you can buy.

I’m sorry I can’t help more – I wish I could! Perhaps the Stirling engine forum would be able to answer your questions with more authority?

I have a small 35 foot narrowboat with a woodburning stove. The stove heats the kitchen/lounge, but little heat gets to the bedroom about 12 feet away. the top of the stove gets too hot to touch. do you think a stirling engine sitting on top of it would drive a fan powerfully enough to blow some of the air into the bedroom? Come to think of it a fan on top of ANY heat source would be useful to shift the heat around……….

This is amazing, hooray for mr.Boyd! Every Stirling engine I see fills me with creative envy.
